obamacare was a republican idea

obamacare was a republican idea

republicans in washington have actually hadit pretty easy for the last eight years, because they haven't actually had to do anything otherthan do nothing. what i mean by that is every time presidentobama would put something forth, they would just make sure to block it, to obstruct, tonot give hearings, to just do whatever they could to not do anything with the legislation. here's the problem for republicans today. they actually have to govern. they have to put on their big boy pants, goout there and do something. now, those are going to be horrible things.

the best example is obamacare, the affordablecare act. they tried literally dozens of times to repealthat during barack obama's presidency. they were unsuccessful every time obviously, but they kept promising us and they campaigned on it in 2012, 2014, and 2016 that they weregoing to repeal and replace. that became the catch phrase, repeal and replace, repeal and replace. guess what? you're in a position where you're very likelygoing to repeal it. what are you going to replace it with? what are you going to do when 20 million morepeople in the united states suddenly wake

up one day without health insurance? they're going to be pretty pissed off. what are you going to do? how are you going to handle 20 million peoplethat can no longer afford to go to the doctor, that can no longer afford to get their children'smedicine? that's a lot of pissed off people. in this business, you know, we piss peopleoff from time to time. i couldn't imagine having to face down 20million angry americans uncertain about their future or uncertain about their child's life.

man, i don't envy that position. doesn't seem like that would be somethingthat's very safe or secure for this country. not just for you, for this country. that's the problem the republicans have. it is a dog chasing the car. they've been chasing it for so long. now they've got it, they don't know what thehell to do with their lives now. they're confused and scared, but they've madethese big promises, and so they've got to keep them, because that's why they got elected, because the american public is too stupid

to understand that this is the only reasonthey actually have health insurance. it's going to end badly, and not for the peoplein washington. they're going to be just fine. nothing's going to happen to them. it's going to end badly for the american public. it's going to end badly for the people thatcan no longer afford to go out and buy a $650 epipen to prevent their child from havingan allergic reaction to a bee sting or peanuts. i'm right there with them, to be honest withyou. i have two children that have peanut allergies.

i spend $2,600 a year on epipens. i have insurance through my employer; that'snot going to change. i'm still going to be insured if they repealobamacare. i guarantee you, my premiums are going togo up, just like yours if you have insurance through your employer. republicans are in the pocket of the pharmaceuticalindustry and the health insurance industry. democrats are no better; don't get me wrong. they set up a horrible system under obamacarethat could have been perfect, but they let the industry come in and get their hands onit.

the bottom line is that the republicans don'tknow what to do. repeal and replace. they've got the first part down, but theydon't know what that second part actually even means. they don't know how to insure 20 million americancitizens. they don't know how to negotiate with thedrug companies. they don't know how to make a health insurancecompany cover somebody with a pre-existing condition. again, going to spell disaster for 20 millionamericans who are going to wake up one day,

a lot of them who voted republican, goingto wake up one day and suddenly be told, ‘you can't go to the doctor anymore.’ that's going to be a disaster.
